Sarah Cecilia Bukowski is a New York-based freelance dancer, writer, and activist. She currently performs with the Metropolitan Opera, with additional credits including the Merce Cunningham Trust, Oregon Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Opera, Amy Seiwert’s Imagery, Oakland Ballet, the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble, and a variety of project-based work in the New York and San Francisco Bay Area arts communities. Her work encompasses a diverse repertory in ballet and modern dance, world premiere contemporary dance works, opera, dance films, performance art, video art installations, and interdisciplinary artistic collaborations. As a writer, her bylines include features in The Dance Enthusiast, Time Out New York, Imagining: A Gibney Journal, AGMAzine, and essays written in partnership with the Merce Cunningham Trust and Amy Seiwert’s Imagery. As a labor activist and organizer, she currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Guild of Musical Artists.
